Lucy and Linus were sitting in front of the television set when Lucy said to Linus, "Go get me a glass of water."

Linus looked surprised. "Why should I do anything for you? You never do anything for me."

Lucy promised, "On your 75th birthday, I’ll bake you a cake."

Linus got up, headed to the kitchen, and said, "Life is more pleasant when you have something to look forward to."

We all need some assurances, some security and promise that more is coming. We like to look at the future and believe that there are bigger and greater things on the way for us. The way that human nature works, when we no longer see positive progress in front of us we begin to lose hope and lose the desire to keep on going.

In today’s world of financial, political and emotional uncertainty everyone is looking for some kind of assurance. God has promised us some pretty great things, and they are things that we can look forward to.

The Lord is my shepherd, and I shall *NOT* want!
